Depsite the first significant snow to hit Seattle this winter, the big party just had to go on. After all, you only turn 50 once! Herban Feast co-owner BJ was the man of the hour and as he arrived to the chic venue Within Sodo, he was greeted by family and friends with a huge roar. It was a great party put together by many in the industry, including tireless work by Mary Calhoun as well as friends Erin, Don and Sean.
The food spread was, of course, amazing, and included a sushi chef, a pasta bar, incredible sliders cooked out in a food truck in the alley with an assortment of sauces and mustards, lobster and halibut rolls, and the obligatory huge cake. Donations for this event included incredible arrangements by Flora Nova, soft seating and rentals from ABC Events by Cort, linens from Choice Linens, Barbie Hull Photography, Laurel McConnell Photography, and Blue Danube Productions.
DJ tunes and MC duties were provided by own very own DJ Leslie. After some spirited toasts and the candles were blown out, the party kicked in gear with a fierce dance set. BJ had a a blast, dancing most the night away to classic songs from his younger years in the 80s and 90s, along with more contemporary dance floor hits.
Songs included the pet shop boys -absolutely fabulous, new order-shellshock, janet jackson -together again, whitney houston- its not right but its ok, alison moyet-love ressurection, if you could read my mind- amber, just dance – lady gaga, timber – pitbull and Ke$sha, among others.
Check out these great shots from the party from photographer Barbie Hull.
